The Accounting Policy team is responsible for evaluating and implementing accounting standards across Lazard's global operations, including Financial Advisory and Asset Management businesses. This role is an excellent entry point for building technical accounting expertise, gaining exposure to SEC reporting, and learning alongside experienced finance professionals as the firm applies U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting regulations.
We'll trust you to:
  • Help track new and emerging accounting standards (FASB / SEC regulations) and assist the team in assessing their impact on Lazard's financial statements.
  • Support the drafting and upkeep of the firm's accounting policy documentation and technical accounting memoranda.
  • Gather information and prepare materials that support technical accounting guidance to business units, including Financial Advisory, Asset Management, and Corporate.
  • Assist with preparation tasks related to SEC filings, including Form 10-K, 10-Q, and other public disclosures.
  • Support the team's analysis of transactions such as revenue recognition, compensation arrangements, and investments.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with Financial Reporting, Controllership, Tax, Legal, and Treasury teams on accounting matters.
  • Help compile documentation and schedules requested by external auditors.
  • Assist with tasks related to the implementation of new accounting standards.
  • Conduct accounting research and help prepare draft position papers and presentations for review by senior team members.

You'll need to have:
  • Working toward or recently qualified CPA a plus.
  • 2-4 years of relevant experience.
  • Foundational knowledge of technical accounting, accounting policy, or SEC reporting, typically through prior internships or early-career roles.
  • Experience or internship at Big Four accounting firm or financial institution a plus.
  • Familiarity with U.S. GAAP; exposure to SEC reporting requirements a plus.
  • Good analytical, research, and writing skills.
  • Eagerness to learn, attention to detail, and ability to work well across teams.
