ACCOUNTING INTERN

JOB DESCRIPTION

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Accounting Intern will support the Accounting Manager and Procurement Director with day-to-day accounting and finance activities. This role is designed to provide hands-on exposure to transactional accounting, month-end processes, and cross-functional financial analysis within a fast-paced, hospitality-driven organization. The intern will collaborate with accounting, finance, procurement, marketing, and operations teams while building a strong foundation in accounting principles and business operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assist with processing daily accounting transactions, including sales, refunds, and basic journal entries.
  • Support daily cash reconciliations for all locations, including cash transfers, checks, ACH, and debit transactions.
  • Help prepare and enter invoices, expense reports, and month-end accruals under supervision.
  • Monitor and assist in managing the Accounts Payable email inbox.
  • Support month-end close activities, including documentation and reconciliation support.
  • Assist with data gathering and ad hoc financial analyses to support finance, marketing, operations, and strategy teams.
  • Participate in identifying opportunities for process improvements within accounting and finance workflows.
  • Provide administrative and analytical support for procurement activities, including new store openings and ongoing operations.
  • Maintain confidentiality of financial and company information.
  • Complete other accounting-related projects and duties as assigned.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
  • Basic understanding of accounting principles and financial statements.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Familiarity with accounting systems or point-of-sale platforms (e.g., Toast, Sage Intacct) is a plus but not required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Willingness to learn, ask questions, and take initiative.
  • Prior internship, coursework, or experience in accounting, hospitality, retail, or service industries is a plus.
  • Able to start immediately.
