Job description

Company Description Chicago Bridge Loan/Chicago Hard Money is a private lending firm specializing in short-term loans for real estate investors and developers in the Chicago area (generally within one hour of the City). The company focuses on providing fast, flexible financing solutions, helping clients close deals quickly and manage (sometimes) complex real estate transactions. Team members work closely with borrowers, brokers, and industry partners in a fast-paced, detail-oriented environment. The culture emphasizes professionalism, integrity, and strong analytical skills, with opportunities to learn the nuances of real estate finance and private lending. Candidates joining the organization can expect exposure to a wide range of real estate projects and hands-on experience in loan and portfolio management.

Role Description The Accounting Executive is envsioned as a 4 day/week role, approx 50% on-site (in our Wicker Park office) and 50% WFH, responsible for managing day-to-day accounting and financial operations for the lending portfolio. Typical duties include recording and reconciling transactions, maintaining general ledgers, tracking loan disbursements and repayments, and preparing periodic financial reports. The role involves monitoring cash flows, assisting with budgeting and forecasting, and supporting month-end and year-end close activities. The Accounting Executive will work closely with leadership to ensure accurate documentation, compliance with internal controls, and timely responses to investor and auditor inquiries. This position requires consistent on-site collaboration with team members to support efficient operations and reliable financial insights.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency with accounting software and spreadsheets (e.g. Microsoft Excel) and comfort working with financial data and analytics (though not heavy use).
  • Attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks, deadlines, and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders.
  • Experience in real estate, lending, banking, or financial services is preferred, including familiarity with loan accounting and portfolio tracking.
  • Ability to work on-site in Chicago, IL, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and maintain confidential financial information.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience; professional certifications (e.g., CPA or progress toward certification) are a plus.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving abilities, integrity, and commitment to accurate and compliant financial practices.
