Who You Are

  • Have 1-2 years of experience in accounts receivable, billing, collections, or a related accounting support role
  • Hold a high school diploma (required); post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, Trust accounting, or a related field is not required but considered an asset
  • Demonstrate strong proficiency with MS Suite applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, and PowerPoint)
  • Are fluent in English with strong written and verbal communication, excellent interpersonal skills, and sound judgement
  • Can maintain strict confidentiality and safeguard sensitive information
  • Work efficiently under pressure, adapting to changes and interruptions while meeting deadlines

How You'll Make a Difference

Reporting to the Accounting Coach, the Accounting Assistant supports our Financial Services team with day-to-day billing and accounts receivable activities, helping ensure client files are billed accurately, invoices are processed in a timely manner, and payments are applied correctly. This role works closely with legal teams to support the billing cycle, maintain accurate financial records, and assist with administrative and accounting functions that contribute to the efficient operation of the claims process.


  • Reconcile trust accounts daily
  • Process incoming customer payments and deposits
  • Review legal settlements or trust agreements to determine funds distribution
  • Post vendor bills directly to specific client files
  • Communicate with clients to obtain missing information required for file processing
  • Calculate and process file billings, including billing legal files from settlement proceeds and ensuring appropriate allocation of fees, disbursements, and trust transactions
  • Monitor outstanding trust balances and work with legal teams to resolve discrepancies or obtain required instructions
  • Maintain accurate accounting records and documentation in accordance with firm policies and regulatory requirements
  • Respond to inquiries from lawyers, legal assistants, clients, and external parties regarding settlements, payments, trust transactions, and statements of account
  • Perform other duties as assigned
