Job description


ROLE STATEMENT:
The Junior Financial Accountant will be a member of the Accounting Department responsible for supporting the basic accounting functions in areas including monthly financial statement process and general accounting and reconciliations. Reporting to the Manager, Financial Accounting, the Junior Financial Accountant will focus on supporting the group by assisting with accurate and timely financial reporting and analysis.

SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES:
  • Prepare and enter journal entries and monthly accruals accurately into Oracle
  • Assisting with account reconciliations and general accounting
  • Assist in updating monthly lead sheets and preparing Monthly Reporting support including backup for balance sheet accounts
  • Assist in preparation and analysis of financial statements and perform analysis and investigations as required
  • Perform various tasks related to monthly financial accounting and reporting as required
KEY ATTRIBUTES AND COMPETENCIES:
  • A highly energetic, deadline driven, self-starter with the ability to work in a fast paced environment focusing on providing quality information
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Comfortable in a time-sensitive, team based or autonomous environment
  • Strong organizational skills with a high attention to detail and flexibility in a dynamic environment
  • Good analytical skills and sound judgment, with good understanding of accounting processes
  • Strong working knowledge of Excel (intermediate to advanced user), is essential
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • University degree or technical diploma specializing in Accounting or Finance is required
  • 2 years of related and progressive work experience
  • Experience working in or an understanding of oilfield services
