  • CFS is partnering with a well respected non profit organization in Baltimore City to hire an Accounting Manager to join their small finance team. This is a strong opportunity for an Accounting Manager who enjoys hands‑on fund accounting, and working closely with leadership in a structured, mission-driven environment.
  • The Accounting Manager will serve as a lead accounting resource, bringing strong hands-on experience with financial statement preparation, consolidations, and grant accounting, while supporting broader finance team priorities as needed.

Job Duties for the Accounting Manager:
  • Prepare and post general ledger entries, reconcile accounts, and lead month-end and year-end close processes, including consolidation of financials across multiple entities
  • Produce and review accurate financial statements, reports, and budgets. Consolidate and interpret financial data received from third-party accounting team
  • Manage and track grant funding, ensuring strict compliance with donor restrictions; lead cost allocations and prepare detailed, funder-specific financial reports
  • Oversee accounts payable (invoice processing, vendor payments, expense tracking) and accounts receivable, ensuring strong cash flow management
  • Lead audit support efforts, coordinate external audits, and ensure compliance with nonprofit tax requirements, including IRS Form 990 and applicable federal/state regulations
  • Support payroll processing and ongoing cash flow management activities
  • Apply advanced accounting knowledge, including experience with bond draws and complex funding structures
Qualifications for the Accounting Manager:
  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 5+ years' accounting experience, preferably in a non‑profit setting
    • Consolidated financial statement experience required
  • Experience using NetSuite a plus but not required
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • High attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and ability to meet deadlines
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills

100% on site in Baltimore, MD. M-F, 7am-9am flexible start time
Salary: $90,000-115,000
