Job description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and dedicated Accountant to join our dynamic team at the Business Support Centre in Red Deer. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, proficiency in financial reporting, and a commitment to accuracy. This role offers an excellent opportunity to work in a collaborative environment, contributing to the financial success and integrity of our organization.

Position: Accountant

Full-time: 40 hours per week. Eligible for benefits after 3 months. If you are relocating from another province, please ensure you have AB Health coverage to be covered by our plan provider.

Availability: Weekdays from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Prepare weekly sales reports and monthly reconciliations
  • Complete and assist in period and year end procedures
  • Prepare pre-numbered inventory pages one week prior to period-end for those departments counting inventory
  • Prepare and send the inventory packages to the departments on the Wednesday prior to period-end
  • Ensure that all numbered inventory pages that were sent out are returned
  • Extend inventory pages as necessary as well as keep the FCL reconciliation up to date
  • Assist location managers with finance questions
  • To be familiar with and adhere to Central Alberta Co-op policies and procedures
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the manager

Qualifications: 

  • Accounting diploma is required 

  • Experience in accounting is preferred

  • Experience in customer service is preferred

  • Demonstrate effective communication skills
