Senior Project Manager - Heavy Civil Construction
Location: Lehi, Utah
Compensation: $120,000-$180,000 Base Salary
Employment Type: Full-Time | On-Site
Position Overview
We are recruiting an experienced Senior Project Manager for an established heavy civil contractor in the Lehi, Utah market.
This is a senior-level leadership position for someone with a strong heavy civil background who is ready to take ownership of larger, more complex projects while also providing leadership and mentorship to Project Managers, Project Engineers, Superintendents, and field teams.
Projects can range from approximately $10M to $200M and include water/wastewater treatment facilities, structural concrete, excavation, site development, river diversions, and other major civil infrastructure.
The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of civil construction project management experience and a demonstrated ability to lead complex projects from planning through successful completion.
Project Types
Experience in one or more of the following areas is highly preferred:
  • Water and wastewater treatment plants
  • Heavy civil construction
  • Excavation and site development
  • Structural concrete
  • Concrete tanks and treatment structures
  • River and stream diversions
  • Bridges and dams
  • Roadway and infrastructure improvements
  • Infrastructure rehabilitation

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead complex heavy civil construction projects from preconstruction through final closeout
  • Maintain overall responsibility for project schedule, budget, safety, quality, and financial performance
  • Oversee projects ranging from approximately $10M to $200M
  • Lead and mentor Project Managers, Project Engineers, Superintendents, and other project personnel
  • Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, field personnel, and internal departments
  • Lead project reviews and provide accurate financial reporting and cost forecasting
  • Serve as a senior point of contact for owners, engineers, agencies, and other project stakeholders
  • Manage and review project schedules, budgets, contracts, and documentation
  • Oversee RFIs, submittals, procurement tracking, and design clarifications
  • Manage change orders, progress billings, pay applications, and change management
  • Identify schedule, cost, and constructability risks before they impact the project
  • Resolve field issues and coordinate solutions between operations, design teams, and ownership
  • Maintain strong project documentation and progress reporting
  • Ensure adherence to company safety and quality-control standards
  • Support project teams directly when complex execution challenges arise
  • Manage punch lists, closeout documentation, turnover, and final project completion
  • Develop project personnel and help strengthen the overall operations team

Required Qualifications
  • 10+ years of Civil Construction Project Management experience
  • Proven experience managing large and technically complex civil construction projects
  • Experience with projects ranging from approximately $10M-$200M
  • Strong understanding of heavy civil construction means, methods, scheduling, budgeting, and cost controls
  • Experience with water/wastewater, structural concrete, excavation, site development, or comparable infrastructure construction
  • Demonstrated experience managing project financials, forecasting, schedules, contracts, and change orders
  • Strong leadership and team-development abilities
  • Ability to mentor and develop PMs, Project Engineers, Superintendents, and other project personnel
  • Strong communication and conflict-resolution skills
  • Ability to effectively represent the contractor with owners, engineers, agencies, and other stakeholders
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline preferred; equivalent construction experience will also be considered

Compensation
Base Salary: $120,000-$180,000
Final compensation will depend on experience, project history, technical background, and overall level of responsibility previously managed.
