Job description

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION:


Performs various planning and research work for the Economic and Community Development Planning Program. Planning may involve activities related to job growth/retention, data collection & analysis, transportation, general community development, economic resiliency and quality of life. Work involves developing local and/or regional level plans or programs; developing procedures for implementing and measuring progress made on operational plans or programs. Maintaining regional networking relationships with economic development professionals, business communities, residents, and councils is essential. This position reports to the Deputy Director who oversees this program.


QUALIFICATIONS:


Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in city, urban or regional planning, economics, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred. Previous work experience is desired. Must have a Class C Driver’s License in good standing. Must have dependable transportation and be willing to travel.



SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collects, organizes and analyzes data required in the development of plans or programs;
  • Initiates or assists in developing procedures for implementing plans or programs and creating methods for measuring progress of those plans/programs;
  • Assists in preparing applications/grants for public and private organizations;
  • Assists with a variety of community and economic development across the region, including transportation efforts;
  • Screens and maintains information regarding the revolving loan fund;
  • Coordinates committee meetings, regional conferences, workshops, and public presentations with the ability to connect with diverse audiences;
  • Prepares social media posts, articles and communication outreach documents;
  • Effectively communicates verbally and in written formats. This includes creation of written reports, research summaries, computer graphics, charts, maps, and presentation content for public appearances;
  • Meets deadlines with an organized and proactive approach;
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with local, state, and federal officials, along with the private sector;
  • Has general knowledge of BVCOG agency goals, policies, and programs;.
  • Proficient in the use of a variety of Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Perform duties in a professional manner with attention to accuracy and detail;
  • Demonstrates strong work ethic such as timeliness, respect, and a willingness to be a team player.


SALARY RANGE:

$42,000 - $47,000 depending on qualifications
