About the Opportunity

The Federal Reserve's System Innovation Office has an immediate opening for an AI Product Owner, Senior or Advanced, reporting to the System Innovation Office Group Vice President.

Join our dynamic Systems Innovation team as a Product Owner, playing a pivotal role in driving the Federal Reserve's artificial intelligence initiatives. You'll work at the intersection of emerging AI technologies and practical implementation, helping translate cutting-edge innovations into actionable strategies. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape how the Federal Reserve leverages AI to address complex challenges and drive innovation across the system.

This position is missioncritical and demands a uniquely deep combination of AI/ML product leadership and enterprisescale transformation expertise. The System needs a resource who can operationalize AI solutions in production at scale, maintain an evergreen pipeline of highvalue use cases, and drive the crossfunctional coordination required across business lines, IT, security, and compliance. Success in this role depends on sustained institutional knowledge, longterm stakeholder trust, and mastery of governance processes.

What You Will Do:

  • AINative Product Innovation: Translate real business problems into AI-native and agentic capabilities across all business lines and Reserve Banks across the system to modernize enterprise workflows, processes, and businessled use cases.

  • Accelerating Enterprise Transformation: Lead the shift toward modern, AI-enabled operations by empowering business units to move faster, reduce manual burden, and adopt new capabilities that materially improve how work gets done systemwide.

  • Connecting AI to Strategic Value: Ensure AI is embedded where it delivers measurable business outcomes-strengthening decisionmaking, increasing productivity, and improving service delivery across diverse mission areas.

  • Building Systemwide Enablement & Reuse: Establish shared data, API, and capability frameworks that eliminate duplication, create consistency across districts, and allow highimpact AI solutions to scale quickly across the System.

  • Optimizing Governance for Speed and Safety: Streamline and enhance AI governance processes so they become accelerators-not barriers-to responsible AI adoption. Drive clear, consistent, and efficient pathways for compliance, risk management, and production readiness, reducing fragmentation and ensuring Systemwide alignment with established standards and playbooks

  • Operationalize and Sustain Production Solutions: Ensure AI use cases rapidly and reliably transition into fullscale production environments-eliminating fragmentation, closing valuerealization gaps, and maintaining stringent System governance.

  • Lead Product Development Lifecycle: Champion a modernized, AIforward product development lifecycle that empowers Product Managers to deliver faster, reduce manual effort across business lines, and embed AI into valueproducing workflows.

  • Scale Sustained Adoption: Drive Systemwide enablement, training, and change management to ensure AI solutions are actually used, fully embedded, and delivering measurable efficiencies.

  • Strategic Use Case Prioritization: Identify, sequence, and elevate the AI initiatives that deliver the greatest enterprise value-ensuring System resources are focused on the highestimpact opportunities.

  • Evergreen Pipeline Development: Build a continuous pipeline of use cases ready for activation, incorporating next-wave innovations like agentic AI.

  • Cross-Functional Orchestration: Tightly align business lines, IT, security, compliance, and enterprise partners to prevent duplication, reduce operational friction, and enable integrated AI delivery at scale.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, with 6 to 9 years of relevant experience for the Senior level Product Owner and 10+ years for the Advanced level Product Owner. Background should include project management, data science, or technical program management, with AI/ML experience strongly preferred.

  • Understanding of the Federal Reserve System structure and governance model

  • Demonstrated experience communicating complex AI concepts to executive stakeholders in clear, accessible language (written & verbal)

  • Experience managing complex calendars to include balancing multiple stakeholder schedules (working with their support staff) and proactively identifying conflicts before they arise

  • Ability to coordinate multiple AI workstreams simultaneously, balancing competing priorities while maintaining focus on strategic objectives

  • Proficiency using MS Word, Outlook and Excel

  • Proficiency in SharePoint, including site administration and records and information management

  • Experience with data visualization tools (Tableau, PowerBI) to create dashboards that monitor AI performance metrics

  • Strong organizational skills with demonstrated ability to structure and simplify complex AI project information

  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative, geographically distributed environment while managing ambiguity inherent in emerging technology implementations

  • Track record of implementing process improvements for project management workflows

  • Clear, concise written and verbal communication skills with meticulous attention to detail in AI documentation
