STATUS: Part-time, non-exempt 10-30 hours per week
CLUB POSITION
JOB SUMMARY:
Plans, implements, supervises, and evaluates reading tutoring activities within the educational program, focusing specifically on literacy development and reading skills enhancement. This role involves developing engaging reading materials and instructional strategies tailored to meet the diverse needs of students. The Team Lead will assist in achieving organizational and program-specific goals related to literacy and educational growth, fostering a supportive and effective learning environment for all participants.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
* Bachelors/Masters in Education or related field
* Knowledge of computers at beginning level of Microsoft Office and Google
* Excellent communication skills
* Must pass a background check, fingerprint, and physical examination
Preferred:
*Bachelor's or Associate's degree, or Certification preferred, or working toward degree in related field
*Teacher licensing or Paraprofessional Licensing
*Understanding of youth development principles, with a specific focus on literacy growth.
*Experience working with children and/or youth in an educational or tutoring capacity.
*CPR and First Aid Certifications
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to stand; walk on uneven surfaces; sit; handle or feel objects; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell. The employee must be able to lift up to 40 pounds. The employee may be exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. The noise level is usually minimal to moderate. - Assist in curriculum development specifically for reading tutoring.
- Manage and mentor a team of interns, providing guidance and support in their tutoring activities, ensuring they contribute effectively to the overall literacy development objectives.
- Ensure diverse and accessible programming on a daily basis.
- Conduct regular assessments to monitor students' reading progress and ensure they are on track to meet their academic goals.
- Provide leadership in developing and implementing reading-focused programs, alongside other educational activities as determined by Director of Reading.
- Foster an environment conducive to achieving Youth Development Outcomes.
- Encouraging student participation in reading programs and related activities.
- Assessing the reading needs of new members and facilitating their integration into the program.
- Offering guidance and serving as a role model for students in their literacy journey.
- Participate in organization-wide events that promote literacy and educational growth within the Club.
- Engage in special programs and events that enhance reading and literacy development for members.
