Maintenance Technician - Peoria Advanced Campus
Location: 7785 West Peoria Avenue Peoria, AZ 85345
Compensation: $18 - $26 per hour (DOE)
Position Type: Full-Time, On-Site
Position Overview
Academies of Math and Science (AMS) is a network of high-performing K-8 public charter schools committed to providing safe, structured, and high-quality learning environments for students in historically underserved communities.
AMS is seeking a reliable and skilled Maintenance Technician to support the day-to-day upkeep, repair, and safety of the Peoria Advanced campus. This role is responsible for maintaining school facilities, responding to maintenance requests, and ensuring a safe and functional environment for students, staff, and families.
The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, and able to work independently while maintaining high professional standards.
Key Responsibilities
Facilities Maintenance & Repairs
  • Perform general maintenance and repair tasks including plumbing, painting, landscaping, and minor construction.
  • Maintain school facilities including classrooms, restrooms, cafeteria spaces, and outdoor areas.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergency repair needs.
  • Assist with larger campus improvement projects as needed.

Safety & Compliance
  • Maintain a safe working environment and follow all safety and chemical handling regulations.
  • Support campus security by ensuring proper care and storage of tools, equipment, and facilities.
  • Identify potential safety concerns and recommend solutions to campus leadership.

Inventory & Equipment Management
  • Maintain inventory of maintenance and cleaning supplies.
  • Track and document maintenance activities and repairs.
  • Provide recommendations to administration regarding equipment repair or replacement.
  • Collaborate with external vendors and contractors when necessary.

Qualifications & Requirements
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of 3 years of maintenance, facilities, or related experience.
  • Ability to perform a variety of hands-on repair and maintenance tasks.
  • Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Ability to communicate professionally with staff and leadership.
  • Ability to pass required background checks and obtain an IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
