Job description

Description:

Job purpose

The Donor Management Coordinator works with donor families facilitating the option of tissue and eye donation with care and compassion. The Donor Management Coordinator works closely with the DSLF staff and Donor Partners to facilitate screening of donors from donor partners.

Duties and responsibilities

  • 1. Obtains and reviews all relevant medical records to determine suitability with MD on call.
  • 2. Approaches NOK of potential donor to request tissue donation. Maintains an average consent rate of 65% or higher.
  • 3. Completes Authorizations and conducts/documents Donor Risk Assessment Interview with the NOK/designated historian according to FDA Regulations, AATB Standards, and DSLF Donor Services Foundation protocols and policies.
  • 4. Conducts herself/himself with empathy and respect for the donor, the donor family, and the tissue recipients.
  • 5. Knowledge of FDA Regulations/AATB Standards/DSLF Donor Services Foundation policies and protocols necessary in performing their job duties.
  • 6. Other duties as assigned

Duties and work schedules may be revised when necessary to meet the needs of the department. Permanent changes to existing work schedules require a 2-week notice.


Requirements:

Qualifications

  • Prefer BA or BS degree in Medical Field.
  • Prefer 1-3 years of experience in tissue/organ donation.
  • Multi-lingual candidate preferred (English, Spanish, and Creole).
  • Candidate must possess highest level of organizational, professional and communication skills.
  • Current driverโ€™s license required.
  • Candidate must have dependable transportation.
  • Travel and overnight stays may be required.
  • Must be available to take weekend and holiday call on a rotating schedule.
  • May be required to work overnight or weekend shifts.
  • Must possess excellent communications skills, both oral and written.
  • Must present professional attitude and appearance at all times.
  • Coordinators are expected to maintain DSLF supplied equipment and tools necessary to perform all duties of the job from home (when on scheduled call shifts or in emergencies) or office.
  • CTBS preferred or must obtain within two years of employment.


The department is operational 24-hours-a-day, 7-days-a-week and 365-days-a-year.
