About the Team
Airship powers customer engagement for some of the world's most recognized brands, processing trillions of mobile app interactions through a large-scale distributed data system. The Infrastructure Team builds and maintains the foundation for these systems, providing tooling, automation, expertise, and implementation for core cloud infrastructure, CI/CD, and observability.
About the Role
We're looking for an Infrastructure Engineering Manager to lead a team supporting Airship's cloud infrastructure, build processes, and monitoring systems. You'll provide technical leadership and project support for five engineers in both the United States and France, with potential for the team to grow over time. This role reports to the Director of Infrastructure, who is based in the United States.
This is a hands-on leadership role. You'll balance people management with technical contribution-anticipating infrastructure needs, planning and executing projects, and ensuring our cloud environment scales with Airship and our customers.
This position is open to candidates currently residing in the Eastern Time Zone (EST/EDT) within the United States.
What You'll Do
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of infrastructure engineers
  • Provide clear direction, feedback, and support to create a productive team environment
  • Anticipate, plan, and execute infrastructure projects aligned with company and customer needs
  • Participate in hiring as the team grows, including defining hiring strategy and conducting technical interviews
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, product, and security teams
  • Support broader company initiatives as needed beyond the immediate team scope
  • Maintain and improve cloud infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform
  • Drive improvements in CI/CD pipelines, observability, and automation
  • Evaluate and implement emerging infrastructure tools and practices
  • Support company initiatives around cost optimization, security, disaster recovery, and compliance
  • Respond to and manage critical incidents effectively

What You Bring
Required:
  • 5+ years in backend or infrastructure engineering roles
  • 2+ years managing or mentoring engineers
  • Strong project management skills-able to drive initiatives from planning to delivery
  • Excellent communication skills in English (required for collaboration with US-based leadership)
  • Experience with cloud platforms (GCP preferred, AWS acceptable)

Nice to Have:
  • Hands-on experience with Terraform or other Infrastructure as Code tools
  • Familiarity with container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Experience with CI/CD systems (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Spinnaker)
  • Background in Python, Go, or Java for automation and tooling
  • Knowledge of security best practices, networking fundamentals, and incident management
Work Location & Travel Requirements
Airship's 'Digital First' approach to work means that for the majority of our roles, work can be performed remotely, either some or most of the time. Airship believes that flexible work contributes to a more productive and more equitable work environment, and that Airshippers are able to collaborate, innovate, and support one another across different locations and timezones.
Some roles may require that employees perform their work from a specific location to support business activities, and/or be within proximity to an Airship office location or customer or partner locations, while other roles can be performed 100% remotely.
This position is fully remote and may require up to 10% travel based on business needs or as requested by your manager.
Compensation
The starting base pay range for this position is: $150,000-$180,000 per year. Base pay is part of the total compensation package and is determined by a variety of factors such as relevant skills, work experience, business priorities, market demands, and location. This role offers stock options, providing a direct opportunity to share in Airship's success.
Benefits & Perks
  • Medical insurance options for you and your dependents
  • Flexible time off, paid holidays, paid parental leave, and paid volunteer time off
  • Support for your overall wellbeing with employer-subsidized mental health and employee wellness programs
  • A digital-first work environment and a monthly stipend to support remote work
  • Mentorship and growth opportunities to build skills and accelerate professional development
  • And more!
