Schedule & Coverage
  • Physician shifts are:ย 8a-8p,ย 12p-12a,ย 8p-8a
  • 12-hr shifts:ย 8aโ€“8pย /ย 8pโ€“8a (ABEM docs)
    12p-12a (ABFM / ABIM docs - Must have >2 years of ER experience)
  • Full-time / Part-time / PRN options
  • 24 hr sift are not allowed

How many shifts needed per month:

  • Minimum 4-5 shifts/month commitment.
  • ideally 8-14 shifts a monthย 
Patient Volume
  • ED volume ~14,000 annuallyย (0.7โ€“0.8 pts/hr)
  • Coverage: 36 hrs MD + 24 hrs APP daily
  • APPs work independently except ESI 2 needs to be co-signed by physician.
  • Must be comfortable with emergent Ob coverage
  • Not a federal employment
  • Hospitalists on siteย 24/7ย (no other specialists)
Details
  • EMR: RPMS (similar to VA)
  • 20-bed hospital (no trauma designation)
  • Credentialing: 4โ€“8 weeks (federal background check + fingerprints)
  • Schedules set 60โ€“90 days in advance
ย Housing & Logistics
  • On campus shared housing provided free of cost
  • Closest airports: Rapid City (2.75 hrs) / Sioux Falls (3.75 hrs)
Requirements
  • ABFM or ABIM BE/BC
  • Must be comfortable with emergent Ob deliveries.
  • BLS, ACLS, PALS, ATLS are requiredย 
  • Clean license (malpractice history OK)
