What is an abc board?

ABC Boards, or Alcoholic Beverage Control Boards, are government agencies or authorities responsible for regulating the sale, distribution, and licensing of alcoholic beverages within a specific state or jurisdiction. They oversee compliance with alcohol laws, issue permits to businesses, and often conduct enforcement activities to prevent illegal sales. The structure and duties of ABC Boards can vary by state, but their primary goal is to ensure responsible alcohol distribution and consumption. Some boards also manage state-run liquor stores or control the wholesale alcohol market.
