Job description

Job Title: Assistant Store Manager - Retail/Mixed Beverage Store
SUMMARY
Under the direction of Store Manager, manages retail/MXB store, pursuant to North Carolina ABC laws, rules and regulations, by performing the following duties:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Performs all duties of Store Clerk position, plus the following additional duties:
Plans and prepares work schedules and assigns subordinate employees to specific duties.
Identifies and schedules part-time employees to supplement full-time store staff as needed.
Coordinates and participates in sales activities and prepares, or directs employees in preparing, all sales activities.
Documents performance of subordinate employees, and participates in employee performance reviews.
Participates in and/or supervises employees engaged in sales duties with both retail and mixed beverage customers, taking of inventories, reconciling cash with sales receipts, keeping operating records, or preparing daily record of transactions, and performs work of subordinates as needed.
Prepares requisitions for merchandise and supervises receipt of merchandise into store inventory.
Ensures compliance of employees with established security, sales and recordkeeping procedures and practices.
Answers customers' complaints or inquiries.
Locks and secures store.
Reconciles employees' sales receipts and prepares and submits bank deposits.
Reviews price sheets to note price changes and sale items.
Rings up sales and totals purchases on cash register.
Enters mixed beverage customers' orders in computer system.
Pulls and processes bottles from stock on hand to fill mixed beverage customers' orders.
Collects cash, check, or charge payment from customer and makes change for cash transactions.
Evaluates customers for possible impairment, and ensures that purchasers are over 21 years of age.
Offloads trucks and transfers inventory from trucks to storage area and from storage area to sales area.
Stocks shelves and fronts bottles on shelves.
Consistently participates in loss prevention efforts by watching for shoplifters.
Counts money in cash drawer at beginning and end of work shift.
Records daily transaction amounts from cash register to balance cash drawer.
Verifies items sold match items rung into register.
Uses electronic scanner to record price.
Monitors checkout stations to reduce customer delay.
Audits cash register tapes.
Assists in building of displays.
Updates product rebates.
Ensures that all store restrooms, parking areas, and grounds remain clean at all times.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Thorough understanding of NC ABC rules and regulations. Complete knowledge of inventory-taking, opening and closing procedures, including processing of bank deposits, preparation of transactions for armored service pick-up and delivery, and receipt of inventory deliveries. Ability to provide guidance and supervision to subordinate employees, in accordance with company policies and procedures. Ability to think through a problem and achieve an appropriate solution, or to secure the necessary resources to affect an appropriate resolution. Willingness to rearrange working schedule to ensure smooth operation of store. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, and to deal courteously and tactfully with the general public.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to speak, read, and write English in a capacity sufficient to perform the tasks of the position. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information to customers.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers.
