Job Overview

The Prosthetist and Orthotist (ABC) provides direct and indirect orthotics care for patients. The Prosthetist & Orthotist assists physicians with prescription criteria, attends clinic and provides in-services for the clinic staff as specified by the Director of O&P. The practitioner also fabricates devices and directs the technicians in the fabrication of prosthetics and orthotics devices, assuring an organized and orderly work flow with reasonable delivery dates of devices to patients. The person in this role follows all federal, state and professional standards requirements regarding the provision of care and the compliance documentation thereof.  Shriners Children's Salt Lake City is seeking a Prosthetist and Orthotist to join our team! 

This position is full time, non-exempt, and benefits eligible.  Compensation is determined based on years of experience and departmental equity.

Responsibilities
  • Acts as a resource to physicians, patients, families, and other medical care providers in the area of Orthotics and Prosthetics
  • Adapts to changes in the environment in a positive, proactive manner; leads staff in accepting and embracing change.
  • Demonstrating the ability to prioritize and maintain a feasible work flow while keeping with established deadlines for each assigned tasks.
  • Assists Manager in providing technical training and assists in professional development of the technical staff regarding technical issues.
  • Trains technicians in proper fabrication procedures.
  • Coordination of department services results in on-going, measurable improvements related to physical and/or psychosocial patient outcomes.
  • Develops realistic goals & implements plan of care based upon initial and ongoing assessment, psychosocial, physical, developmental, and discharge needs of our patient population.
  • Performs duties involving the use, measurement, fabrication, fit and care of Orthotic and Prosthetic Services.
  • Reports and documents patient care per departmental standards.
  • Helps in development of treatment plans, including prescription of prosthesis.

Qualifications

Required:

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Orthotics and Prosthetics
  • ABC Certification in Orthotics and Prosthetics

Preferred:

  • BLS 
  • Experience with Computer Aided Design (CAD) and Central Fabrication model
  • 3+ years of clinical and technical expertise in Orthotics/Prosthetics
