Work Schedule
Monday through Friday, 9:30 a.m.- 5:30 p.m. (overtime as required to support night and weekend operations)

Position Summary
The Legal Document Trainer / Document Specialist is a hybrid role that blends document training with advanced hands-on document production. This role leads by example by delivering onboarding training, coaching instruction, and the reinforcement of best practices along with complex high-level document work while working closely with the Senior Manager and Supervisors ("Management Team").
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Typical responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Lead the onboarding experience for newly hired positions in the department and collaborate with the Management Team to design and deliver impactful training programs focused on the firm's high standard of excellence
  • Support Word Processing team members in mastering required applications, developing expertise with firm templates and branding, providing accurate completed work products, creating document exercises, and reviewing and providing follow-up guidance for building the capability to process complex documents with accuracy and efficiency
  • Coordinate and/or facilitate in-person and virtual training sessions
  • Develop, maintain, and optimize the department's training materials, WPTips library and Wiki for accessible knowledge sharing
  • Measure training effectiveness and implement improvements to drive continuous learning
  • Develop and manage a mentorship program for continued support and guidance
  • Collaborate with the Word Processing team to test new platforms, application features, and hardware, and to collect and report results
  • Collaborate with the Management Team to identify training needs and recommend targeted development programs to improve efficiency; also provide ongoing feedback
  • Execute hands-on complex document projects related to software and hardware with precision and efficiency
  • Work on other projects as directed

Qualifications/Position Requirements
  • Strong training, coaching, and mentoring skills with the ability to develop others
  • Highly motivated and proactive with a consistent attention to detail and a commitment to designing and delivering training programs for new hires and existing team members, focusing on technical skills, efficiency, and high standards
  • Proficiency in all platforms used in the department including MS 365, Acrobat, Litera Compare, NTD, Contract Companion, DocXTools, ABBYY FineReader, OmniPage, as well as other tools related to legal document processes
  • Fast and accurate keyboarding (65WPM)
  • Ability to maintain professional composure in high-pressure fast-paced situations, and work confidently and collaboratively with individuals at all levels of the firm
  • Exercise good judgment and handle sensitive information with discretion and confidentiality
  • Superior organizational and project management skills
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Flexible and accommodating to meet evolving needs of the 24/7 department

Education and/or Experience
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience
  • Extensive experience in document production, preferably in a legal services environment with a strong understanding of industry best practices

Compensation
The expected base salary for this position ranges from $130,000 - $150,000. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, anticipated assignment, and, where applicable, licensure or certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. Davis Polk offers a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package.
