This position works out of our Altavista, VA location in the Abbott Nutrition division. Our Nutrition business develops science-based nutrition products for people of all ages, from helping babies and children grow to keeping adult bodies strong and active. What You'll Work On
  • Provide nursing treatment to ill and/or injured employees.
  • Schedule medical appointments and follow up visits with external medical providers.
  • Coordinate return-to work efforts.
  • Conduct initial and periodic physical exams and testing of employees.
  • Prepare and maintain medical and safety records, accident investigations and statistical data.
  • Initiate reports as related to worker's compensation and OSHA.
  • Instruct, educate and train employees on disease prevention, health, wellness and fitness topics.
  • Collaborate with safety and training in the development of specialized or mandated training programs.
  • Review and negotiate outside medical services and pricing.
  • Accountable for the appropriate medical treatment of employees reporting to Employee Health seeking treatment.
  • Accountable for accurate and timely completion of worker's compensation claims and all aspects of Disability Case Management.
  • Accountable for maintaining the accuracy and confidentiality of all employee medical records.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Registered Professional Nurse with current State license to practice.
  • Minimum 2 years Occupational Health Nursing experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, solid knowledge of Occupational Health, and excellent computer skills required.
  • The ability to perform independently, interact well with all levels of employees and make well-informed decisions is required.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Certification in Occupational Health Nursing (COHN-S).
  • Certification in Case Management.
  • Physical Assessment skills.
  • Phlebotomy skills.
  • CAOHC Certified.
  • Can perform audiometry testing.
  • NIOSH Trained - perform pulmonary function testing.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong written skills.
