Position Summary:

The Bartender / Mixologist is responsible for delivering an elevated bar experience through expertly crafted cocktails, polished service, and genuine guest engagement. This role supports The Abbey Inn & Spa's refined, destination-driven beverage program by blending technical skill, storytelling, and hospitality. The Bartender / Mixologist creates memorable moments for guests by offering thoughtful recommendations, maintaining impeccable bar standards, and contributing to a warm, welcoming atmosphere reflective of the Inn's historic character.

Team members are expected to embody Meyer Jabara Hotels' J Quality Behaviors: Joy, Jump, Join, by demonstrating passion for hospitality, proactive service, and collaboration in every guest and colleague interaction.

Bartending & Mixology Duties

  • Prepare and serve high-end cocktails, classic spirits, wine, and beer with consistency, precision, and creativity
  • Deliver warm, attentive, and knowledgeable service, ensuring an exceptional guest experience at the bar
  • Engage guests with confidence by explaining cocktail concepts, spirits, and ingredients while tailoring recommendations to individual preferences
  • Execute opening and closing duties, including mise en place, restocking, inventory awareness, and proper storage
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and professional bar environment in accordance with brand and safety standards
  • Collaborate with bar leadership on menu execution, seasonal offerings, tastings, and special events
  • Adhere to all safety, sanitation, and responsible alcohol service guidelines
  • Support overall Food & Beverage operations as needed to ensure seamless service
  • Operate POS systems, inventory management software, and other required platforms with accuracy and efficiency

Experience & Education:

  • Proven experience as a bartender or mixologist in an upscale bar, restaurant, hotel, or cocktail-focused environment
  • Strong knowledge of classic cocktails, modern mixology techniques, spirits, wine, and beer
  • POS and other operational platform experience preferred
  • Excellent guest service and communication skills with a polished, calm, and professional demeanor
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
  • Passion for hospitality, craftsmanship, and continuous learning
  • Flexible availability, including nights, weekends, and holidays
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift moderate weight as required
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs as required for stocking and service duties
  • Ability to bend, reach, twist, and move quickly during busy periods
  • Capable of performing repetitive motions associated with mixing, pouring, and cleaning
