SUMMARY OF POSITION:


The Robot Programmer and Process Engineer is responsible for analyzing part models, customer and internal drawings, sketches, and design data to generate robot programs for thermal spray applications. Utilizes knowledge of Solid Works (CAD), ABB RobotStudio (RAPID) programming, thermal spray controls, shop processes, process specifications and material properties to develop optimum thermal spray programs to meet customer requirements. Develop shop aids, tools and part fixtures as required and provide technical guidance and leadership.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Review and determine detailed thermal spray process for parts assigned
  • Develop or work with engineering and support personnel to produce thermal spray tooling and fixtures as required
  • Generate solid models and utilize existing part solid models used to develop RAPID programs within ABB RobotStudio
  • Develop RAPID programs using ABB RobotStudio for parts assigned
  • Revise existing thermal spray programs to eliminate instruction errors or omissions
  • Maintain RAPID code and RobotStudio file repository and version control
  • Confer with set-up personnel and operators to oversee part set up and program prove-out to obtain first article approval.
  • Oversee and review RAPID programs and set-ups to assure maximum efficiency in production
  • Plan fixtures and complete set up documentation for repetitive part manufacturing
  • Document Standard Process Instructions for robot operators
  • Keep up with new technologies and assist in implementing improvements
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned
  • Comply with applicable environmental, health and safety laws and regulations, Company policy and accepted safe work practices
  • Understanding the importance of designing, building, and operating safe systems. Basic knowledge and understanding of basic safety work processes such as JSA’s and MOC’s
  • Demonstrated commitment in the successful EH&S management of chemical processes and facilities

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s degree: or technical school plus 2+ years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and employees at different levels
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents, define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra, geometry, and trigonometry
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, and adept at using Microsoft Word, Outlook

PREFERRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS:

  • Certified robot operator strongly desired, ABB certification preferred
  • Knowledge of plasma spray processes preferred
  • Semiconductor industry experience strongly desired
  • Semiconductor manufacturing/process knowledge strongly desired
  • Experienced in SolidWorks design (a plus)
