Role and Team

As a Mechanic Tech IV in our high production mechanic shop, you provide the highest level of experience and expertise in vehicle diagnostics and repair on customer vehicles. Perform major and technically difficult diagnostics, repairs and overhauls or rebuilds, ensuring contractual obligations are met. This position reports to the Mechanic Shop or designated manager.

Responsibilities

  • A/C, Heater & Refrigeration - Flush system contaminants, evacuate system, add oil and charge with freon. Run OEM performance tests and verify performance, utilize electrical schematics, identify, and correct related problems. Diagnose, and repair all systems and related problems.
  • Brakes - Diagnose brake problems, replace cylinders and calipers, perform failure analysis of components, Diagnose, and repair all systems and related problems, including set up and use of on car brake lathe.
  • Electrical Charging Systems - Perform full diagnostic, including in-depth analysis and corrections.
  • Clutch - Perform failure analysis for premature or abuse. Diagnose and repair all systems and related problems.
  • Cooling systems - Diagnose all fan clutch types, diagnose all control systems, replace fan clutches. Diagnose, and repair all systems and related problems
  • Starting/Cranking System - Analyze to identify root cause. Diagnose, and repair all systems and related problems.
  • Lighting system and Electrical Accessories - Evaluate lighting system configuration and application. Diagnose, isolate, and repair difficult lighting system problems, such as shorted and open circuits. Drive Axles - Inspect housing for leaks, perform diagnostics and major repairs as required. Replace entire lighting harness, lamp assembly and/or control modules on power units.
  • Drive Axles - Inspect housing for leaks, perform diagnostics and major repairs as required.
  • Transmission and Driveline - Lubricate, perform diagnostics, fluid and filter changes and major repairs or replacement as required on manual and automatic transmissions, differentials, transfer cases and 4x4 or AWD systems.
  • All Engines – Check and adjust oil level, identify unusual noises and oil leaks. Diagnose and perform major repairs or services as required including engine replacement.
  • Fuel Systems - Diagnose all fuel system malfunctions, adjust fuel system components. Repair and replace fuel system components including injectors.
  • Electrical Systems - Perform diagnostics of electrical systems utilizing wiring diagrams and schematics to trace and repair electrical concerns. Use continuity testing, voltage drop, amp draw, short circuit and parasitic draw tests to trace and repair harness issues or identify module failures.
  • Install/program system modules and perform associated calibrations.
  • Diagnose Hybrid, EV and ADAS concerns.
  • Preventative Maintenance – Full fault code identification and service interval reset.
  • Steering and Alignment – Diagnose and repair steering. Disassemble, diagnose and repair/replace steering gear boxes and steering racks.
  • Suspension-Chassis and Cab -Diagnose suspension noises and alignment concerns. Maintain, repair, and replace all chassis components, perform failure analysis and substantiate premature failure.
  • Tire and wheel maintenance - Repair and replace tires, wheels and TPMS components including sensor programming. Properly diagnose and repair the cause of improper wear conditions.
  • Plays a key role in the leadership, development and training of other grade technicians.
  • Track and record vehicle information following department processes.
  • Assist in overall general shop duties such as cleaning, driving, organizing vehicle parking and staging, etc.
  • Provide prompt and courteous service to internal and external customers. Maintain a professional appearance and neat work environment.
  • Practice and promote teamwork at all times. Set a good personal example of attitude and performance.

Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years of age and have a valid driver's license that meets the requirements
