Ponte Vineyard Inn is a Four Diamond, 90 room, boutique hotel located next to Ponte Winery and surrounded by 300 acres of mature vineyards and views of rolling hills. We are a short drive from most of Southern California and enjoy hosting folks who want a break from city life. Our guests visit us seeking a relaxing day or overnight stay in the country.


Summary:

Ponte Vineyard Inn is seeking a hospitality-driven Assistant Hotel Manager to help deliver the exceptional service and personalized experiences that define our AAA Four Diamond boutique hotel. Assisting the Rooms Manager and Hotel Manager, this position supports the daily operation of Front Desk, Guest Services, Bell/Valet, Night Audit, and Housekeeping while helping ensure every guest has a memorable experience.


Compensation: $73,000 annually

Schedule:

Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesGuest Experience & Four Diamond Service
  • Help deliver the exceptional hospitality and personalized service expected of a AAA Four Diamond property.
  • Create memorable guest experiences that exceed guest expectations and inspire return visits.
  • Lead by example in delivering warm, personalized hospitality and exceptional guest service.
  • Lead the execution of VIP arrivals, guest recognition programs, special occasion amenities, and service recovery efforts to ensure Four Diamond guest experiences.
  • Monitor guest satisfaction scores, online reviews, and guest feedback trends. Assist in developing and implementing action plans to improve service delivery and guest loyalty.


Rooms Division Operations
  • Support the daily operation of Front Desk, Guest Services, Bell/Valet, Night Audit, and Housekeeping.
  • Assist with arrivals, departures, room readiness, and occupancy management using WebRezPro.
  • Partner with Housekeeping, Maintenance, and other departments to address guest needs and operational priorities.
  • Review daily occupancy reports, room availability, and room status.
  • Assist in managing oversells, room moves, upgrades, and inventory controls.
  • Monitor room readiness and support revenue optimization efforts.
  • Participate in weekly occupancy and forecast reviews.


Housekeeping & Room Quality
  • Help ensure guestrooms and public spaces are clean, welcoming, and maintained to hotel standards.
  • Conduct room inspections and assist in maintaining quality and presentation standards.
  • Perform daily room inspections as needed utilizing established quality standards.
  • Partner with Housekeeping leadership to improve room readiness and cleanliness metrics.
  • Verify VIP and special request rooms meet presentation standards prior to arrival.
  • Conduct routine audits of guest service delivery and room presentation.
  • Ensure compliance with Ponte's AAA Four Diamond service standards.
  • Participate in annual AAA inspection preparation along with the Rooms Manager and Hotel Manager.
  • Coach associates on anticipatory service techniques.
  • Monitor guest feedback trends and implement corrective actions.


Associate Leadership & Development
  • Support, coach, and develop associates while fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.

Guest Recovery

  • Utilize approved recovery tools and amenities when appropriate.

Revenue & Occupancy Management
  • Review daily occupancy reports, room availability, and room status.
  • Assist in managing oversells, room moves, upgrades, and inventory controls.
  • Monitor room readiness and support revenue optimization efforts.
  • Participate in weekly occupancy and forecast reviews.


Administrative & Operational Leadership
  • Prepare and manage departmental schedules aligned with occupancy forecasts.
  • Monitor labor productivity and staffing levels.
  • Assist with payroll review and labor cost control.
  • Ensure staffing levels support Four Diamond service standards while maintaining budget expectations.
  • Participate in management meetings, property walks, and operational follow-up.
  • Monitor departmental standards and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.


Corporate Bookings
  • Be familiar with Corporate accounts and ensure reservations and billing it set up appropriately.
  • Pending deposits to be collected
  • Pending room lists to be collected.
  • Pending contracts to be returned.
  • Send out Corporate Resumes for any groups in the coming week. Ensure any special accommodations or requests are handed off/ completed.
Retail & Inventory Management
  • Oversee inventory levels, ordering, receiving, and merchandising of the hotel Gift Shop and Sundry Store.
  • Monitor retail sales trends and recommend product additions or adjustments to maximize guest satisfaction and profitability.
  • Maintain accurate inventory counts and assist with periodic inventory audits.
  • Ensure retail displays are organized, stocked, clean, and consistent with Ponte Vineyard Inn presentation standards.
  • Coordinate office supply ordering and inventory management for hotel departments.
  • Monitor inventory usage and purchasing practices to minimize waste and control expenses.
  • Work with Accounting and department leaders to ensure accurate receiving and invoice processing.


Manager on Duty Responsibilities
  • Serve as property Manager on Duty when assigned.
  • Lead operational decision-making during evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Manage emergency situations, guest incidents, and service disruptions along with the Rooms Manager.
  • Ensure proper communication and follow-up across all hotel departments.


Safety & Compliance
  • Promote a safe and welcoming environment for guests and associates.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, hotel procedures, and safety standards.
  • Assist with safety inspections, incident documentation, and corrective action follow-up.
  • Support emergency response procedures and operational readiness.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by management.


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Minimum three (3) years of hotel supervisory experience required.
  • Strong leadership, guest service, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and organizational abilities.
  • Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
