What are Overnight AAA Hotel Inspectors?

Overnight AAA Hotel Inspectors are professionals employed or contracted by the American Automobile Association (AAA) to evaluate hotels during nighttime hours. Their primary role is to conduct anonymous inspections, assessing cleanliness, safety, service quality, and amenities against AAA’s Diamond Rating standards. These overnight inspections provide an accurate picture of a hotel's operations when management presence is minimal. Inspectors document their findings, which help AAA assign or maintain a hotel’s Diamond Rating, a trusted indicator for travelers. Their work ensures that hotels meet consistent quality standards at all hours.

What are some common challenges faced by Overnight AAA Hotel Inspectors during site visits?

Overnight AAA Hotel Inspectors often encounter challenges such as adjusting to irregular working hours, maintaining objective evaluations despite fatigue, and effectively communicating with hotel staff who may not be expecting inspections at night. Additionally, inspectors must remain vigilant to notice details that impact guest safety and comfort, even during less busy hours. Balancing thoroughness with discretion is key, as inspections should not disrupt hotel operations or guests.
