Is a PCT like a nurse?

A Patient Care Technician (PCT) is a healthcare worker who assists nurses with basic patient care tasks such as bathing, feeding, and vital signs monitoring. While PCTs work closely with nurses and may perform some similar duties, they are not licensed nurses and do not provide the same level of medical care or have the same responsibilities as registered nurses (RNs).

Is a PCT just a CNA?

A Patient Care Technician (PCT) is similar to a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) but typically has additional training and responsibilities, such as performing basic clinical tasks and assisting with patient care in hospitals or clinics. While both roles involve direct patient support, PCTs often require certification and may work under the supervision of nurses, with a broader scope of practice. Certification requirements and job duties can vary by state and healthcare facility.

How much does a PCT get paid hourly?

A Patient Care Technician (PCT) typically earns between $12 and $20 per hour, depending on experience, location, and work setting. Certification and additional skills can also influence pay rates.
