Job description

The Opportunity

Playground Labs is seeking a Game Director to set the product and design vision of a game while leading external teams to create engaging gameplay experiences. The Game Director will be responsible for working alongside executive management to marry core gameplay mechanics with live ops and monetization execution. Game Directors who have experience launching titles, managing remote teams and external parties, and running live ops will excel in this role.

This is a 100% remote position, and we welcome applications from qualified candidates worldwide.


Job Responsibilities

  • Create vision documents, product goals, design documents, that inform the contributors
  • Ensure design supports a gameplay-first player experience
  • Own, articulate, and evangelize product direction
  • Be a jack of all trades when necessary to generate the largest impact
  • Ensure game team is focused on decisions to produce the largest impact as quickly as possible
  • Act as a player advocate to ensure the highest level of usability, playability, and visual excitement
  • Establish standards and design systems for a fun and balanced experience for consumers
  • Give constructive feedback regarding game features and be able to accept feedback in kind Identify and champion game enhancements and improvements to other key stakeholders
  • Communicate effectively and clearly within and across teams, and to the game community


Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience making games
  • Able to develop and champion a strong design vision for marrying core gameplay mechanics to live ops and monetization strategies
  • Outstanding self-motivation and initiative
  • Able to work well in a team environment
  • Able to work creatively in a demanding technical environment
  • Must be able to deliver systems and features to a high standard of quality
  • Strong ability to analyze and adapt designs based on feedback and data
  • Collaborative, self-motivated, and effective time-management skills Strong analytical, oral and written communication skills
  • Quickly adapt to new tools, technologies and development methodologies
  • Passion for games and desire to create fun and engaging experiences
  • Experience in management role

Compensation: In accordance with NY, CO, CA, and WA law, Playground Lab's provides a reasonable estimate of the base compensation for this role. The compensation for this position in the above listed locations consists of a salary package in the range of $65,000-150,000 alongside awarded tokens for the projects in which they participate. The actual base salary will be determined on an individual basis considering a number of factors including, but not limited to, experience, education, relevant certifications, skills, and geographic location.
