This opportunity is in the Insurance Underwriting Department.

The Insurance Underwriting Department offers a culture of empowerment to produce results and resolve clients’ issues. Role Description

As a Cyber Underwriter, you will play a key role in expanding Safety National’s Cyber Insurance Practice by underwriting both new and renewal business while building strong relationships with brokers, risk managers, and internal business partners. You will evaluate complex cyber risks, determine appropriate pricing, retentions, and coverage terms, and help ensure profitable growth within an evolving and highly specialized market. Working closely with Account Services, Claims, Legal, Business Development, and leadership, you will contribute to underwriting strategy, enhance underwriting guidelines and procedures, identify new business opportunities, and represent Safety National as a trusted cyber insurance expert. If you enjoy analyzing complex risks, collaborating across teams, and driving profitable business growth, this is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact within a growing practice.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Risk Management, Finance, Insurance, or a related field is preferred.
  • Equivalent insurance underwriting experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

Required Qualifications

  • Presently authorized to work in the U.S. without a requirement for work authorization sponsorship by our company for this position now or in the future.
  • Ability to analyze complex Cyber risks and evaluate exposures, security controls, financial information, and loss history.
  • Experience underwriting both new and renewal business while determining pricing, retention levels, limits, and terms.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively negotiate with brokers, insureds, and internal stakeholders.
  • Ability to build and maintain productive relationships with brokers, clients, and cross-functional business partners.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and decision-making skills with sound business acumen.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across underwriting, claims, legal, account services, and business development teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5 or more years of Cyber underwriting experience or equivalent experience underwriting large commercial accounts.
  • Insurance brokerage experience.
  • Demonstrated success in an underwriting production environment.
  • Experience developing or enhancing underwriting guidelines, procedures, or reference materials.
  • Experience drafting manuscript endorsements and working with complex insurance contracts.
  • Proven ability to develop broker relationships and identify opportunities for profitable business growth.
  • Leadership potential with strong coaching and relationship-building skills.
  • Professional insurance designations such as CPCU, RPLU, AU, or other relevant industry credentials.
