Job description

POSITION SUMMARY:
  • Receive and ship Sales Department orders, and act as a backup for other departments' orders processing.
  • Select, pack and ship items to book distributors, bookstores, members and other individuals worldwide.
  • Other position-related tasks, as assigned.

DUTIES:
  • Receive orders from trade and consignment orders from Acumen.
  • Serve as backup to data entry for processing Temple, Center, Membership Services, Web and organization orders.
  • Have a complete knowledge of each customer's packaging and shipping requirements for domestic and international orders.
  • Receive, pack and ship orders for trade shows.
  • Receive, pack and ship orders for domestic and international wholesale distributors.
  • Pack items in boxes with appropriate packing material to prevent damage in shipping.
  • Determine the optimum way to ship items using a variety of carriers.
  • Prepare Customs forms and annotate envelope/box with postage needed. Annotate orders with all shipping information.
  • Mail packages.
  • Handle special mailings.
  • Resolve shipping problems and track shipments.
  • Operate forklift.
  • Participate in inventory and cycle counts as required.
  • Participate in the Convocation move in/move out.
  • Load and unload freight trucks.
  • Responsible to follow SRF's policies and established processes.
  • Other position-related tasks, as assigned.

  • Proven experience as a Shipping Clerk or in a similar role within a warehouse or distribution center.
  • Experience in domestic and international shipping preferred.
  • The ability to function well in a multi-task environment with ability to work independently.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs desired.
  • Knowledge of computers and order entry.
  • Good math, written and verbal communication skills a must.
  • Possess a valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
  • Forklift certified.
  • The ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Sit, stand, walk, push and pull pallets, etc. for an extended period of time.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to represent SRF adequately when dealing with the public.
  • The ability to honor and maintain a strict level of confidentiality.
  • A minimum of four years high school or the equivalent skills is necessary.
  • Knowledge of and experience with SRF principles and standards.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
This is a full-time, hourly non-exempt position, Monday through Friday, 5:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. PST.
