Role Summary: The Mentor Teacher plays a vital leadership role in supporting the professional development and instructional effectiveness of early childhood education staff. This position mentors teaching teams, models best practices, and helps ensure compliance with curriculum standards and licensing regulations. The Mentor Teacher fosters a collaborative learning environment and supports continuous improvement efforts that enhance school readiness outcomes for children ages 0-5.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide mentorship, feedback, and training to teaching staff on curriculum implementation, classroom management, and child development practices.
  • Support lesson planning and individualized instruction, ensuring alignment with program goals, developmental needs, and regulatory requirements.
  • Guide teachers in maintaining accurate assessments, records, and documentation related to student progress and classroom activities.
  • Collaborate with Teaching staff ensure a safe, nurturing, and responsive classroom environment that meets all health and licensing standards.
  • Assist in engaging families as educational partners through home visits, conferences, and creating welcoming classroom environments.

Qualifications:
  • 3+ years as a paid teacher in a licensed childcare center serving children under 5 years of age required
  • Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Social Science or related field required
  • 15+ units of post-bachelor's degree education strongly preferred
  • 6 infant and toddler units
  • 3 Administration units required if serving as Site Supervisor
  • California Teaching Commission Child Development Teacher Permit required
  • If serving as a Site Supervisor, must possess a Site Supervisor permit
  • Bilingual English, Spanish, Korean and/or Tagalog preferred
