Transportation Dispatch Coordinator - Trucking and Logistics - Base Salary to 70k/year - Nashville, TN

  • Our client, a growing transportation and logistics company, is seeking a Transportation Dispatch Coordinator to support daily trucking operations at its Nashville location. This role is responsible for dispatching drivers, coordinating freight movement, monitoring shipments, maintaining communication with drivers and customers, and ensuring equipment is delivered safely and on schedule. The ideal candidate has a background in the transportation industry and thrives in a high-volume dispatch environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and dispatch drivers to ensure on-time pickups and deliveries
  • Monitor shipments, track freight status, and proactively resolve delays or service issues
  • Support daily transportation and fleet operations to ensure efficient freight movement
  • Schedule loads, assign routes, and adjust dispatch plans as operational needs change
  • Verify and maintain load information, bills of lading, shipping documents, delivery paperwork, and transportation records within the transportation management system (TMS)
  • Communicate with drivers, customers, and internal operations teams to ensure timely delivery and excellent customer service
  • Maintain accurate dispatch records and shipment updates throughout the transportation process

Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of experience in transportation, trucking, freight, fleet operations, logistics coordination, dispatch, or transportation operations
  • Experience dispatching drivers and coordinating truckload or freight movement
  • Experience with Transportation Management Systems (TMS), dispatch software, logistics software, or fleet management systems
  • Strong organizational, multitasking, and time management skills
  • Ability to prioritize work and make sound decisions in a deadline-driven transportation environment
  • Strong customer service, communication, and attention to detail
