PIPE INSPECTOR

  • Inspect pipe to make sure they meet specified standards.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Must be physically able to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations.
  2. Due to the hazardous nature of the job environment (mobile equipment, overhead cranes, etc.), an acceptable level of vision and hearing is required in order to identify and respond to visual and audible warnings in a safe manner.
  3. Must meet the physical requirements for safe operation of mobile equipment as administered by the Company.
  4. Must exhibit the knowledge and ability to use measuring equipment, gauges, and tools required to perform the job duties.
  5. Due to the need to visually inspect pipe for defects, must pass an annual vision test as administered by the Company.
  6. Must exhibit a valid state issued driver's license.

Essential Physical Functions

  • Standing is required on wooden, grating and gravel surfaces while checking pipe.
  • Walking a few steps to get to upper part of work area, on wooden, grating and gravel surfaces is required.
  • Climbing stairs required to cross over walking beam, up to three steps within work area throughout shift (Unit 0200).
  • Stooping occasionally required to place chock blocks next to pipe.
  • Overhead reach required to roll pipe to next station with pipe stick and to measure circumference of pipe.
  • Forward reach required to measure circumference of pipe and to check sockets.
  • Bended reach occasionally required to place chock block next to pipe.
  • Handling required to use pipe stick, place chock blocks, use tape measure and other gauges.
  • Use of fingers required to write reports, measure circumference of pipe with tape, mark pipe, check socket dimensions, use gauges, etc.
  • Talking required with coworkers, supervisor and to report problems to shop. Vision required to check pipe, mark pipe, measure pipe, safety, etc.
  • Hearing required for safety and communication with co-workers and supervisor.
  • Pushing and pulling with of up to 50 pounds of force required for rolling pipe with pipe stick and positioning pipe on dinky.

PIPE INSPECTOR, CENTRAL LINING

  • Inspect pipe to make sure they meet specified standards.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Must be physically able to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations.
  2. Due to the hazardous nature of the job environment (mobile equipment, overhead cranes, etc.), an acceptable level of vision and hearing is required in order to identify and respond to visual and audible warnings in a safe manner.
  3. Must meet the physical requirements for safe operation of mobile equipment as administered by the Company.
  4. Due to the need to visually inspect pipe for defects, must pass an annual vision test as administered by the Company.
  5. Must exhibit a valid state issued driver's license.

  • Walking required up and down the production line on even and uneven surfaces such as concrete and grating required.
  • Climbing of catwalk stairs required within work area throughout shift.
  • Balancing required when climbing stairs and for maneuvering within work area.
  • Stooping occasionally required to inspect pipes.
  • Overhead reach required to put barcode on pipe.
  • Forward reach required to run socket cleaning tool through gasket groove of pipe bell.
  • Bended reach occasionally required to pick up items from floor.
  • Handling required to use tape measure and socket cleaning tool.
  • Use of fingers required to write reports, mark pipe, etc.
  • Feeling required to feel for smoothness of pipe lining.
  • Talking required with coworkers and supervisor. Vision required to check pipe, mark pipe, safety, etc.
  • Hearing required for safety and communication with co-workers and supervisor.
