Today, our brands include EchoStar, Hughes, DISH TV, Sling TV, Boost Infinite, Boost Mobile, DISH Wireless, OnTech and GenMobile.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Senior Automation Engineer (multiple positions-2) sought by DISH Wireless, L.L.C. in Littleton, Colorado.
Develop, document and execute 5G network CI/CD automation processes involving CI/CD pipelines of AWS CodePipeline, CNF deployments, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), end to end automation across layers of cloud-based network functions. Design and develop state-of-the-art approaches to solving complex quality issues. Communicate with Product Owners, Developers, and management to establish understanding of issues to address and proposed solutions. Drive the strategic evolution of the 5G environment by migrating legacy telecom systems toward modern cloud-native and containerized solutions. Collaborate closely with network architects to ensure the modernized platform achieves optimal scalability, performance, and flexibility. Lead the design and implementation of standardized infrastructure blueprints using Crossplane Compositions (XRDs) and Configuration Packages. This includes authoring reusable, type-safe infrastructure modules using KCL templates to govern all provisioning efforts. Design, build, and maintain robust Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery pipelines that automate infrastructure and application deployment. Utilizing tools like ArgoCD and Crossplane to ensure CI/CD processes enforce continuous delivery across all virtualized and containerized environments. Create the necessary feedback loops to communicate status of the pipeline to the stakeholders. Embed DevSecOps principles by automating container security workflows and integrating tools like Prisma Cloud to scan images and enforce CVE thresholds. Use KCL for pre-deployment validation of Kubernetes/Crossplane manifests, ensuring all infrastructure adheres to strict compliance standards. Observability, Monitoring, and Alerting: Configure and manage the core monitoring stack, including Prometheus, Grafana, CloudWatch, and Loki, to provide deep visibility into platform health. Proactively establish and fine-tune alerts for critical metrics, ensuring rapid identification and resolution of availability or performance issues. Configure and maintain the Git Repo, Docker registry, CI tool, configuration and deployment tools. Write high-quality, scalable, and maintainable code to develop custom automation scripts and internal tooling using languages like Python. Identify and build solutions, such as microservice applications for pre-check automation, to eliminate manual processes and drive efficiency. Using Gitlab and Gitlab Pipelines. Learn, evaluate, and implement new technologies to further quality and delivery capabilities. Provide technical oversight of 3rd party vendor's deliverables to ensure what is being delivered meets company standards. Implement end-to-end (e2e) testing for all infrastructure code and deployments to guarantee reliability and expected behavior. Specifically, use Chainsaw to automate testing of Crossplane compositions, simulating real-world provisioning scenarios. Tier 3 Support and Operational Troubleshooting: Provide expert-level Tier 3 operational support for the mission-critical cloud platform and its associated automation tools. Troubleshoot and resolve complex integration issues related to ArgoCD, Crossplane, IAM access, and various AWS services: Integrate Velero backup and restore capabilities directly into GitOps pipelines to protect production-grade Kubernetes workloads for reliable, reproducible recovery and allows for validated disaster recovery simulations.
