  • Internship program runs from May 26 through August 6, 2027.
  • In addition to role-specific projects, you’ll take part in professional development sessions, networking opportunities, mentorship and experiences that help you grow personally and professionally.

What you can expect in this role  

As a Spectrum intern, you’ll spend the summer working alongside two teams: your respective department and your intern cohort.

Department and team-focused projects account for about 80% of your schedule. You’ll spend the other 20% on internship experiences that include a kickoff conference, professional development sessions and networking activities, webinars, community service, cross-functional projects and final presentations.

This experience is designed to help you explore your interests, expand your network and leave with a deeper understanding of both your field and the impact of our business.

Internship responsibilities may include:

  •  The 5G Lab Intern will support the design, setup, testing, and validation of 5G network equipment and technologies in a hands-on lab environment. Working alongside RF, systems, and software engineers, the intern will assist with test execution, data collection, and troubleshooting across the 5G protocol stack (RAN, core network, and end-user devices). This role offers exposure to real-world 5G NR deployments, test automation, and performance analysis, making it well suited for a student pursuing a degree in electrical engineering, telecommunications, computer science, or a related field.
  • Set up and configure lab equipment including gNodeBs, small cells, UE (user equipment) test devices, spectrum analyzers, and channel emulators. Execute test plans for 5G NR features such as  carrier aggregation, network slicing, , and record results accurately. Collect, organize, and analyze test data; help identify trends, anomalies, and performance issues. Assist engineers in troubleshooting hardware, RF, and protocol-level issues during testing. Support the development and maintenance of test automation scripts (e.g., Python) and lab tooling. Document test procedures, configurations, and results in clear reports and lab logs. Help maintain lab inventory, cabling, and equipment calibration to keep the environment test-ready. Research 3GPP specifications and emerging 5G/6G technologies to support ongoing projects. Follow lab safety, security, and RF exposure protocols at all times.

  • Must be currently enrolled in an accredited College or University completing a bachelor’s degree
  • Must have at least a 3.0 GPA or greater in current program
  • Ability to travel locally to Spectrum intern development events and activities throughout the program
  • Authorization to work in the U.S. without restrictions or need for future sponsorship

Preferred Qualifications

  •  Basic Wireless Network, 5G , Routing Switching.
