Job description

Compass Point is looking for a 5G Subject Matter Expert to work at Fort Meade, MD. To join our team of outstanding professionals, apply today!
Develop 5G architecture that showcases leveraging commercial and customized 5G networks to access the DoDIN.
This Hybrid position requires that you live within commuting distance from Fort Meade, Maryland.
Responsibilities
  • Follows 3GPP 5G standard protocols that specifically relate to securing DoD mission. Provide recommendations for security requirements for 5G standards. Decompose DoD applicable 5G use cases and requirements based on NDAA and USD R&E guidance documents and policies. Develops 5G reference architecture Course of Action (COAs), including network slicing as a service (NSaaS), that showcase leveraging secure carrier networks to access the DoDIN. Develop a zero-trust security architecture that overlays DoD Security on commercial 5G reference architecture.
  • Supports OUSD R&E and DoD CIO WG efforts related to NS and CM. Collaborate and assist DISA in 5G issues of spectrum sharing, testing, modelling and simulation, architecture, requirement, security, IDAM, MDM and policy. Provide support for the four major workstreams:
    • 5G Security Architecture.
    • 5G Security Requirement guidance (SRG).
    • 5G Continuous Monitoring (CM).
    • 5G Enterprise networks and transition of 5G services.
  • Designs and implements network architecture for interconnection of Mission partner's 5G systems to DoDIN.
  • Develops and implements proof of concepts using commercial equipment to evaluate and demonstrate DoD use cases including NSaaS, orchestration, security, and continuous monitoring implementations.
  • Establishes campus 5G network at DISA HQ to augment DISA Wi-Fi. Pilot smart warehouse use case within DISA warehouse. Evaluate running 5G services out of DISA datacenters. Investigate implementation of 5G smart base technologies. Conduct market research to evaluate the available 5G products that meet MP and DoD requirements and use cases.
  • Implements a 5G architecture within a lab environment that showcases leveraging secure carrier networks to access the DoDIN. Prototype and transition 5G use cases to support end-to-end network slicing (NS) for DISA and DoD programs including CM for DoD 5G networks. Support the evaluation of 5G products for inclusion on Unified Capabilities (UC) Approved Product List (APL).
  • Assesses the entire cybersecurity posture of the future 5G service and shall make recommendations to reduce support costs and shall expose and remediate configuration and operational security issues before they affect the future service offering. The contractor shall monitor the environment for security events and operational health. The contractor shall prevent the compromise of privileged account credentials from cyberattacks, promote credential hygiene and cybersecurity best practices, while ensuring systems/services comply with DoD cybersecurity requirements. Coordinate with designated government personnel to ensure the 5G services are available and optimized through security gateways. Develop STIG guidance for secure implementation of 5G systems. Develop DISA approach to 5G performance and security monitoring.
  • Responsible for the overall systems infrastructure including engineering, implementation and integration, and technical services and support. Designs, implements, installs, maintains, and administers infrastructures including hardware, software, and various configurations. Monitors overall performance to proactively identify potential issues and tune appropriately. Performs root cause analysis on failed components and implements corrective measures. Works with others to establish and improve processes and procedures. Performs work independently. Considered a high-level specialist who regularly interacts and works with senior management. Uses advanced techniques, theories, and processes to complete work. Typically requires BA and 12-15 years.

Qualifications
  • 5+ Years of experience with telecommunications with Mobile Network Operators (MNO).
  • 2+ Years of experience with 5G Technologies in the DoD Environment and 1+ year experience supporting DoD 5G efforts.
  • 2+ Year of experience supporting DoD/DISA 5G initiatives.

Clearance:
  • Top Secret/Final Top Secret /Top Secret SCI.
