Job Title: Physician โ€“ Region 1
Location: Toledo, Ohio (43608)
Shift: Mondayโ€“Friday, 8:00 AM โ€“ 5:00 PM (Flexible based on facility needs)
Duration: Minimum 6 months (with potential extension or permanent hire)
Hours/Week: 40
Position Overview
The Physician provides comprehensive primary care services within a correctional facility. This role involves diagnosing and treating patients, managing ongoing care, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams while adhering to established medical standards and correctional healthcare guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
โ€ข    Provide routine and emergency medical care to patients/inmates 
โ€ข    Conduct physical examinations, diagnose conditions, and monitor patient progress 
โ€ข    Prescribe medications and administer treatments for acute and chronic conditions 
โ€ข    Order and interpret diagnostic tests and laboratory results 
โ€ข    Perform minor medical procedures as needed 
โ€ข    Maintain accurate documentation using electronic health records (EHR) 
โ€ข    Complete medical evaluations, reports, and summaries (admission, discharge, etc.) 
โ€ข    Manage patient classifications and reviews as required 
โ€ข    Refer patients for specialized care when necessary 
โ€ข    Collaborate with healthcare staff and interdisciplinary teams 
โ€ข    Supervise and provide guidance to nursing and support staff 
โ€ข    Participate in quality improvement initiatives, peer reviews, and team meetings 
โ€ข    Ensure compliance with ODRC policies, protocols, and American Correctional Association standards 
Workload

Minimum Qualifications
โ€ข    Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) 
โ€ข    Active Ohio medical license (required) 
โ€ข    Board-certified or board-eligible in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, or Emergency Medicine 
โ€ข    Healthcare provider-level BLS/CPR certification 
โ€ข    DEA certification (as required for the assignment)
