Physician – Primary Care
Location: Chillicothe, OH 45601
Pay Rate: $120–$130/hour
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:00 PM
Duration: 6 months with potential for long-term/permanent placement
Setting: Correctional Healthcare – Patient Population: Adult Male
Board Certification: Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, or Correctional Medicine
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Physician to provide on-site primary care services to an adult male correctional population. The physician will provide comprehensive medical evaluations, treatment, medication management, referrals, and ongoing patient care in accordance with established clinical standards and facility policies.
The physician will also spend approximately ½ day per week providing services at a second male correctional facility located across the street.
This is a weekday-only position with no evenings, weekends, or holidays. The assignment is expected to last at least 6 months, with potential for permanent employment based on mutual fit.
A phone interview and on-site facility meeting/tour are required.
Key Responsibilities
•    Provide primary care and medical treatment to incarcerated adult male patients.
•    Conduct medical examinations and prepare accurate evaluations and reports.
•    Diagnose and manage acute and chronic medical conditions.
•    Order, review, and interpret appropriate diagnostic tests.
•    Manage and prescribe medications within the scope of practice and applicable policies.
•    Make referrals for specialized medical care and treatment as needed.
•    Complete patient reclassifications and other required clinical reviews.
•    Collaborate with nursing, medical, behavioral health, and other facility staff.
•    Document patient encounters accurately in the electronic health record (EHR).
•    Provide care in accordance with nationally recognized clinical standards.
•    Follow ODRC policies, procedures, protocols, and applicable American Correctional Association (ACA) standards.
•    Participate in Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) activities and peer reviews.
•    Participate in collaborative agreements, as required.
•    Perform other physician duties within the scope of practice as assigned.
Workload
•    Caseload of up to 2.5 patients per hour.
•    Services provided primarily at the assigned facility, with approximately ½ day per week at the nearby male institution.
Requirements
•    Active, unrestricted physician license to practice in Ohio.
•    Board certification in Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, or Correctional Medicine.
•    Primary care experience required.
•    Experience providing care to adult patients preferred.
•    Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a correctional healthcare environment.
•    Strong clinical judgment, communication, documentation, and patient-management skills.
•    Successful completion of required facility credentialing, background screening, and onboarding.
