Wastewater Operator – 3rd Shift

Location: Hartford, CT 06120

Job Type: Full-Time, Direct Hire

Shift: 3rd Shift (Thursday–Sunday Nights)

Pay: $20.00–$25.00 per hour

About the Role

We are seeking a reliable Wastewater Operator to join a metal recycling and manufacturing facility in Hartford, CT. This role is responsible for operating and monitoring wastewater treatment equipment, performing routine water testing, maintaining proper chemical levels, and supporting daily treatment operations.

This position is ideal for candidates with at least one year of experience in wastewater treatment, water treatment, industrial chemical handling, pH adjustment, chemical processing, or a related industrial process. If you've worked with chemicals, monitored industrial processes, or performed water quality testing, we'd like to hear from you.

Schedule

Training: First two weeks on 1st Shift (Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM)

Regular Schedule – 3rd Shift

  • Thursday: 10:30 PM – 7:00 AM
  • Friday: 10:30 PM – 11:00 AM
  • Saturday: 10:30 PM – 11:00 AM
  • Sunday: 10:30 PM – 7:00 AM
Responsibilities
  • Operate and monitor wastewater treatment equipment and metal washing systems.
  • Check and maintain chemical levels, including pH adjustments as required.
  • Monitor pumps, tanks, filters, and chemical feed systems.
  • Collect water samples and perform routine water quality testing.
  • Record operating data, test results, and daily inspection logs.
  • Identify process issues and notify maintenance or supervisors when needed.
  • Assist with unloading and moving materials using a forklift (training provided if needed).
  • Sort, weigh, and prepare recycled materials for processing.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
  • Follow all environmental, safety, and company procedures.
Qualifications
  • At least 1 year of experience in one or more of the following:- Wastewater treatment

    • Water treatment
    • Industrial chemical handling
    • Chemical processing
    • pH balancing or chemical dosing
    • Environmental or utility operations
    • Related industrial process experience
  • Comfortable working with industrial chemicals and following safety procedures.

  • Ability to monitor equipment and complete routine inspections.

  • Strong attention to detail and accurate recordkeeping.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Basic computer and documentation skills.

  • Forklift experience is a plus or willingness to become certified.

  • Willingness to work overnight and weekend shifts.
