Description
Purpose of Job
This position is responsible for administering hyperbaric oxygen therapy to patients as prescribed by the hyperbaric leadership. Responsible for the safe and effective operation of the hyperbaric chamber and related support systems as well as the safe delivery of hyperbaric oxygen therapy to the hyperbaric patient.
Job Functions
  1. Assists in the patient preparation for treatment.
  2. Operates and maintains the hyperbaric chamber and associated systems and equipment.
  3. Monitors patients in the chamber.
  4. Reinforces education as it relates to hyperbaric therapy.
  5. Documents and maintains accurate medical records and reports.
  6. Coordinates departmental safety-related standards as required by licensing and regulatory agencies.
  7. Maintains all facility safety-related standards as required by licensing and regulatory agencies.
  8. Assists Clinical Supervisor with agency regulatory and accreditation compliance.
  9. Backs-up Clinical Support I as needed.
  10. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education/Work Experience
  • See License/Certifications

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • Strong communication and listening skills
  • Ability to meet and maintain the necessary background checks as aligned with position functions
  • Ability to communicate in the English language for effective written and verbal correspondence in order to complete job functions as mentioned above
  • Knowledge of basic computer functions and Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to respond appropriately to unpredictable situations and diverse patient populations
  • Ability to work autonomously and as a team
  • Knowledge of Medical Terminology
  • Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Capable of making independent decisions with the use of good critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Ability to serve patients in a friendly and efficient manner

License/Certifications
  • Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing OR
  • Current state of MN and National Registry of EMT certification OR
  • Current state of MN Paramedic Certification
  • BLS Certification
  • Completion of NBDHMT or UHMS-recognized industry hyperbaric medicine course and certification within one year of hire

Preferred Qualifications
  • One to two years of previous healthcare experience
