Job Description
Prepares patients for Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBO) treatments. Assists clinical staff with patient examination and treatment, documents patient care records. Operates and cleans Hyperbaric Chamber and documents equipment maintenance.
Job Responsibility
  • Prepares patients for hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBO) treatments and documents treatments in patient care record.
  • Operates the hyperbaric chamber according to manufacturer guidelines and established regulations.
  • Takes and records vital signs and/or growth measurements; draws blood; administers EKGs and assists clinical staff with examination and treatment as needed.
  • Cleans HBO chambers and maintains the orderliness and cleanliness of treatment rooms.
  • Performs Transcutaneous Oxygen Monitoring; monitors vital signs and patient response during HBO treatments.
  • Participates in patient education as it relates to hyperbaric therapy.
  • Participates in quality assurance programs and supports clinical hyperbaric facility accreditation.
  • Maintains daily and periodic equipment maintenance documentation.
  • Transports patients to and from the department.
  • Performs related duties as required. All responsibilities noted here are considered essential functions of the job under the Americans with Disabilities Act. Duties not mentioned here, but considered related are not essential functions.

Job Qualification
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Current Basic Life Support Professional Certification required.
  • 1-3 years of technical experience, required.
  • Certified Hyperbaric Specialist (CHS) or Certified Hyperbaric Technologist (CHT) preferred.
  • Previous EMT experience preferred.
  • CHT required within 12 months of employment.
