The Hyperbaric Tech, under the direction of the Program Director and/or Safety Director of the Samaritan Wound Care Center, administers hyperbaric oxygen therapy to patients as prescribed by the Hyperbaric Physician. Performs duties under supervision of the Program Director, Clinical Coordinator, and/or Safety Director as is appropriate for the facility. Is responsible for the safe and effective operation of the hyperbaric chamber(s) and related support systems. Is responsible for the safe delivery of hyperbaric oxygen therapy to the hyperbaric patient.

Job Requirements

Minimum Education Requirement :

Graduate from state approved practical nursing program. Approved pharmacology course or previous medication experience and successful achievement in medications exam. Knowledge of new trends and techniques in Nursing.

*Attendance or verification of attendance to an introductory Hyperberic Training Course as approved by the National Board of diving and Hyperbaric Medical Technology (NBDHMT) post hire.

Minimum Experience Requirement :

Previous experience in administering hyperbaric oxygen therapy preferred. Possesses a thorough knowledge of nursing principles as well as SHS policies and procedures; demonstrates ability to provide quality patient care; communicates and works effectively with people; possesses ability to collect data on patient's needs, i.e., clinical, teaching, mental and spiritual. Ability to read and communicate effectively in English. Organizational ability. Effective interpersonal, oral and written communication skills. Must possess and demonstrate knowledge of the growth and development and means to provide appropriate care to the varied age groups, pediatric to geriatric, to whom health care is provided.

Minimum License Requirement :

Current LPN licensure or permit to practice issued by the New York State Education Department. Certified in CPR.
