3rd Assistant Men's Basketball Coach
Job Description
The successful candidate will assist the head coach in coordinating and planning all aspects of the assigned intercollegiate sport and work cooperatively with all personnel in maintaining a quality program within the policy framework of Mississippi Valley State University, NCAA, and the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC).
Essential job functions will include:
  • Assist with organizing and conducting on-campus visits for prospective student-athletes
  • Coordinating eligibility, financial aid, and admission requirements for prospective student-athletes and current student-athletes with assistance from the athletic senior staff
  • Prepare MVSU grant-in-aid paperwork for prospective recruits with the Office of Compliance
  • Prepare weekly NCAA compliance duties for timely submission
  • Conduct the program within the NCAA, Southwestern Athletic Conference, and MVSU policies and guidelines
  • Monitor study hall and academic progress for student-athletes
  • Supervise and evaluate graduate assistants and managers for men's basketball
  • Assist with basketball camps and clinics;
  • Assist with on the court coaching and individual workouts along with pre and post season weight training and conditioning
  • Assist with other duties as assigned by head coach

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree with at least two years of coaching experience or a combination thereof; possess knowledge in the sport; ability to maintain a quality NCAA Division I Program and demonstrate solid communications and customer service skills; must have knowledge of recruiting of student-athletes to include rules and regulations governed by NCAA; must be flexible and possess the ability to work well with all levels of MVSU faculty/staff; proven ability to plan, organize and prioritize responsibilities.
