DESCRIPTION

The Designer is a key creative contributor to all phases of the studio’s luxury hospitality and residential interior design projects, from initial design concepts through installation. The position requires knowledge of design, drafting, space planning, specifying, and custom furniture design. The preparation of client presentations may also require the development of sketches, three-dimensional renderings, photoshop studies, and presentation formatting. This is a position requiring critical thinking, independent judgement in the course of daily interactions with peers, clients, and vendors.


RESPONSIBILITIES & FUNCTIONS

Studio work may include but will not be limited to the following:

  • Support the Principal, Director, and Project Manager, and team in the implementation and management of several residential or hospitality interior design projects from initial planning through project completion.
  • Participate in the ideation of new projects as assigned, and bring Designer’s individual spark and creativity to

each project in which Designer is involved.

  • Collaborate with the Project Manager and team to assemble design presentations. Record comments received from clients during resulting presentations.
  • Prepare floor, space, and furniture plans and elevations in AutoCAD, and produce hand drawings or computer renderings that communicate design intent.
  • Source furniture, fabrics, fixtures, and finishes per client needs and Principals design vision.
  • Prepare and maintain interior design documents such as plans, specifications, templates, schedules, and shop drawings.
  • Gather quotes and create accurate design proposals. Create and prepare proposals and proposal packages for submission to clients. Prepare and submit purchase orders to vendors.
  • Assemble final deliverable materials per project, as required by the client. These may include physical material boards and packages, binders, and other record material.
  • Manage and maintain continual communication with Principal, Director, Project Manager, design team, and vendors regarding project timelines, lead times, custom orders, installations, and other project related information.
  • As needed, represent the studio at meetings with clients, architects, contractors, and vendors, and organize and attend installations. Relay relevant information to the Principal and design team.
  • Support the Project Manager in creating budgets. Provide input regarding scope, feasibility, staffing, scheduling, and budget requirements of each project.


Requirements:

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, or Architecture, or the equivalent skill set
  • At least two years of experience working within a firm doing luxury interior design
  • Experience and comfort working in a dynamic and fast-paced studio environment
  • Strong technical knowledge of design genres and history
  • Passion for design and collaborative work, and a ‘can-do’ attitude


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Fluency in AutoCAD, Spexx, Adobe Suite, and Microsoft Office
  • Abilities in Sketchup, Rhino, Revit, 3D Studio Max also appreciated
  • Superb creative problem solving, organization, and time management skills
