Process Engineer - Machining
Leading tier I automotive supplier is seeking a Process Engineer to work in their machining department. As the Process Engineer, you will report to an Engineering Lead and will be responsible for an assigned area of the plant. Daily you will be responsible for supporting production lines, eliminating downtime, increasing efficiencies, improving quality and decreasing scrap. Responsibilities will include:
- Supporting production lines while increasing efficiencies and decreasing scrap
- Completing projects related to root cause analysis and troubleshooting downtime
- Utilizing 2D and 3D modeling to improve line layouts and design fixtures and gauges
- Assisting with new model activities, documentation and project management
- Troubleshooting mechanical and basic electrical issues
- Communicating with operations and production associates to improve throughput
- If not immediately, in the future overseeing capital equipment projects, including monitoring timelines and budgets
- Other duties directed by engineering management
This is a hands-on position that requires qualified candidates to be on the manufacturing floor up to 80% of their day troubleshooting equipment, including mechanical and basic electrical issues. You will be on the manufacturing floor daily communicating with the production staff and working with your team to continuously improve production. Requirements for the Process Engineer - Machining:
- Minimum of an Associate's degree with at least 1-2 years of process engineering experience OR a Bachelor's degree with at least co-ops or internships in process engineering
- The desire to work in a fast paced machining environment and general knowledge of machining processes (coursework would be acceptable)
- Mechanical troubleshooting skills
- AutoCAD and/or 3D modeling for plant layout and/or fixture design
- Experience implementing process improvements (scrap reductions, increase efficiencies, etc.)
- Basic project management and problem solving skills
- Microsoft Office
Skills preferred but NOT required:
- Automotive supplier work experience
- Robotic troubleshooting
- Electrical troubleshooting
- G&M Code experience
