The Opportunity
Manufacturing Engineering Intern - Summer Term
Location: East Farmingdale, NY
We have an exciting opportunity for a Manufacturing Engineering Intern to join our team!
As a Manufacturing Engineering Intern for Peerless Instrument, you will perform various tasks to support assembling electronic instrumentation and control cabinets, and electro-mechanical equipment. The electronic cabinets are approximately 6' tall, have over 400 components/parts, and can have up to 3000 wiring terminations. You will maintain detailed operation sheet packages within a digital Manufacturing Execution System to facilitate the assembly process for electrical and mechanical parts, components, sub-assemblies, and final assemblies for defense products.
Your Challenge:
• Migrate Work Instructions to a digital Manufacturing Execution System for manufacturing operators to assemble and wire equipment
• Facilitate processes for tracking production tooling and material
• Support Manufacturing Engineering with Lean process improvements and projects
• Attend weekly status meetings and present project status updates
Your Expertise:
• Currently obtaining an Associate Degree or Bachelor Degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, or related Engineering
• Experience using CAD or 3D Modeling software
• MS Office Word, Excel, and Powerpoint
• Knowledge of electronic and mechanical assembly principles
Your Competencies:
• Action oriented and independent worker
• Communicates effectively
• Collaborates well with multiple departments
