SES (Steel Equipment Specialists) is a leading player in the steel equipment manufacturing and engineering industry, committed to delivering top-quality products and services to our clients. With a strong dedication to innovation, design, and commissioning, we are seeking a full-time hands-on Mechanical Design Engineer to join our growing team in Alliance, Ohio

Key Job Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop custom-designed mechanical systems for metals, metals forming and related industries
  • Lead the mechanical system design from concept through release, ensuring adherence to the client specifications.
  • Create detailed mechanical drawings, schematics, and layouts primarily using Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD in both 2D and 3D formats.
  • Select and specify mechanical components and materials, managing bills of materials (BOM) to ensure accuracy.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to address design requirements, technical challenges, and support project goals.
  • Optimize designs to enhance efficiency, reliability, manufacturability, cost-effectiveness, and competitiveness in the marketplace.
  • Juggle multiple projects simultaneously while upholding high standards of quality.
  • Proficient in producing 2D and 3D mechanical drawings, preferably with Autodesk Inventor or other equivalent 3D software. Training on Inventor is available for those proficient in other platforms.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a team-oriented engineering environment.
  • Strong communication skills are crucial; candidates should feel comfortable engaging in both written and verbal discourse with SES team members.
  • Preparedness to thrive in a fast-paced, customer-focused setting.
  • Highly motivated with a knack for developing innovative solutions that meet customer needs.
  • Capable of performing basic machinery design calculations
  • Background knowledge of steel mill equipment and related processes is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, and electrical control systems is a plus.
Qualifications:
  • A Bachelorโ€™s degree in Mechanical Engineering is preferred, though candidates with substantial work experience will also be considered.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in machine design is required, ideally within the metals industry focusing on heavy equipment
  • This position is an in-person opening and not remote employment.
