Overview SubstationPhysicalDesigner–(Birmingham,AL) Job Description This position is responsible for creating design drawings in 2D or 3D for the Southern Company's Transmission and Distribution electrical substations and supporting Southern Company's design criteria and standardization efforts. The Designer will produce engineering drawings using AutoCAD, Autodesk 3D Inventor or Autodesk Map 3D (P4A), and produce specifications and material requirements for substation projects with emphasis on safety, quality, scheduling, and costs. To further detail, the job responsibilities include the creation/modification of scaled 2D drawings and 3D models, designing the physical aspects of electrical substations, including but not limited to Foundation Layouts. Responsibilities Create design drawings in 2D and 3D for Southern Company's transmission and distribution substations. Support design criteria and standardization efforts. Produce engineering drawings using AutoCAD, Autodesk 3D Inventor, or Autodesk Map 3D (P4A). Produce specifications and material requirements for substation projects with emphasis on safety, quality, scheduling, and costs. Create/modify scaled 2D drawings and 3D models. Design the physical aspects of electrical substations, including foundation layouts.
