Remote 3D Inventor Jobs in Ohio (NOW HIRING)

Remote 3D Inventor information

What is a Remote 3D Inventor?

A Remote 3D Inventor is a professional who designs and creates three-dimensional models, prototypes, or products using specialized CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software like Autodesk Inventor, while working from a remote location rather than an on-site office. They collaborate with clients, engineers, and other team members online to develop, refine, and finalize 3D designs for a variety of industries such as manufacturing, engineering, product design, and architecture. Remote 3D Inventors must have strong technical skills, creativity, and the ability to communicate effectively in a virtual work environment.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote 3D Inventor, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote 3D Inventor, you need strong proficiency in 3D modeling, design principles, and engineering concepts, often backed by a degree in mechanical engineering or industrial design. Expertise with Autodesk Inventor, CAD software, and familiarity with cloud collaboration platforms is typically required. Creative problem-solving, attention to detail, and effective remote communication are essential soft skills for excelling in this role. These skills ensure the creation of precise, innovative designs and seamless project collaboration in a distributed work environment.

What are some common challenges faced by Remote 3D Inventors, and how can they be overcome?

Remote 3D Inventors often encounter challenges related to communication and collaboration, especially when working with cross-functional teams such as engineers, designers, or project managers who may be in different time zones. Ensuring that 3D models and design files are accurately shared and reviewed can require excellent documentation and version control practices. To overcome these hurdles, leveraging cloud-based collaboration tools, scheduling regular video meetings, and maintaining clear project documentation are essential. Staying proactive in communication helps minimize misunderstandings and keeps projects on track.

Job description

Remote - USA Only (48 Contiguous States) Travel: ~10% annually

We're looking for a Finite Element Analysis (FEA) Analyst to support advanced engineering simulations and mechanical design work for complex machinery, heavy equipment, and highcapacity structures. Your work directly impacts product performance, safety, and innovation across our customers' engineering programs.

You'll analyze and improve the structural mechanics of mechanical systems, lead design efforts, and contribute to cuttingedge engineering initiatives across multiple industries.

This is a remote role supporting customers nationwide, with occasional travel to fabrication shops, test sites, or field locations.

Requirements

What You'll Do
  • Perform FEA simulations (linear, nonlinear, contact, buckling, fatigue, largedeflection) using ANSYS or similar tools
  • Analyze and validate crane structures, lifting beams, rigging components, and heavy mechanical systems
  • Develop 3D models, detailed drawings, and engineering documentation in SolidWorks, Inventor, or Creo
  • Conduct hand calculations to verify FEA results and support design decisions
  • Lead mechanical design from concept through prototype, testing, and field implementation
  • Support customers with rapid engineering assessments and problemsolving
  • Generate engineering reports, test plans, and work packs for fabrication and field execution
  • Collaborate with crossfunctional teams, fabricators, and field technicians
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to design reviews and process improvements
MustHave Qualifications
  • BSME 10+ years or MSME with 5+ years of hands-on, demonstrated FEA experience with the analysis of major components of heavy equipment that could be mobile or stationary equipment
  • 10+ years of mechanical engineering experience in cranes, lifting systems, or heavy mechanical equipment
  • Advanced FEA experience (ANSYS strongly preferred)
  • Strong background in structural mechanics, weldments, heavy steel structures, and loadbearing systems
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks, Inventor, or Pro/E/Creo
  • Demonstrated ability to produce welldocumented calculations, FEA reports, and design packages
  • U.S. Citizen or Green Card holder
  • Ability to travel up to ~10%
Preferred Experience
  • Designing cranes, hoists, lifting beams, gantries, or highcapacity structures
  • Experience with hydraulic or mechanical powertrain systems
  • Familiarity with offshore, industrial, or construction lifting environments
  • Knowledge of ASME B30, API, DNV, ABS or similar standards
  • Handson exposure to fabrication, testing, or field commissioning
Work Environment
  • Fully remote (48 contiguous USA only)
  • Occasional travel to customer sites, fabrication shops, or test facilities
  • Work closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams and field personnel

Benefits

We value our team's well-being and offer a robust benefits package to support your professional and personal growth:
