Summary

The Tax Associate prepares and reviews basic to moderately complex federal, state, and local tax returns and assists with other tax-related work under the guidance of a certified public accountant. This is an In-Office position for efficient task management and communication with other members of the tax team.

Position Responsibilities

  • Communicate with the Internal Revenue Service, state, and local authorities to resolve tax notices.
  • Communicate with clients to develop a basic understanding of their financial affairs and the scope of their tax liabilities.
  • Reviews previous tax returns and financial documents to identify missing or incomplete information or documentation.
  • Prepare and review federal, state, and local tax returns for individual and small business clients.
  • Create tax projections for individual and small business clients.
  • Organize and maintain tax records.
  • Assist with any other tax or research projects.
  • Maintains understanding and knowledge of changes in tax law by reading professional literature or attending tax seminars and training courses.

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting
  • 5+ years of prior experience required
  • EA or CPA required

Strong written and oral communications, interpersonal skills, analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, service focus and time management skills required. Must be able to work independently and as part of a larger team.
