This growing manufacturing organization specializes in fabricated products and offers a strong culture, supportive work environment, and continued opportunities for advancement. The Second Shift Production Supervisor will oversee daily shop-floor activities and lead an initial team of approximately seven welders. This individual will assign work, manage shifting priorities, monitor production results, and ensure products are completed safely, accurately, and on schedule. Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead second-shift operations while promoting a safe, accountable, and quality-focused workplace
  • Conduct pre-shift meetings to review safety topics, production goals, and daily expectations
  • Assign responsibilities, balance workloads, and revise priorities as production needs change
  • Monitor output, scrap, rework, downtime, labor utilization, and other performance measures
  • Inspect welding and fabrication work and provide technical assistance when necessary
  • Coordinate with Maintenance, Engineering, and Quality to resolve equipment and production concerns
  • Support equipment reliability, material availability, inventory accuracy, and scrap documentation
  • Train and cross-train employees to strengthen team flexibility and shift coverage
  • Coach team members, provide performance feedback, and address accountability concerns
  • Assist with hiring, onboarding, and developing new production employees
  • Apply Lean manufacturing and 5S practices to improve organization and efficiency
  • Lead root-cause investigations and help implement lasting solutions to shop-floor problems
  • Provide thorough shift handoffs to maintain communication and operational continuity

Qualifications:

  • Five or more years of experience in manufacturing, welding, fabrication, or mechanical assembly
  • At least two years of supervisory experience or five years of experience as a production lead
  • Strong welding knowledge and the ability to assess workmanship and troubleshoot issues
  • Experience supervising employees in a shop-floor or production environment
  • Knowledge of manufacturing safety, production, and quality requirements
  • Ability to interpret blueprints, work orders, and other production documentation
  • Strong leadership, communication, delegation, and team-building skills
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and capable of making sound decisions under pressure
  • Willingness to work hands-on and maintain a consistent presence on the production floor
  • Availability for regular overtime and occasional Saturday work
