GSP has openings for a Set Up Operator on 2nd Shift in our Milling Department
Job Objective:
Sets-up and operates all types of machines under the direction of the Supervisor, Lead Person and/or Group Leader.
Essential Job Functions:
  • Sets-up and operates machines in area assigned, performing duties with little or no supervision.
  • Obtains prints, tools, collets, wheels, gaging and fixtures as required, changes and replaces tools as required to assure parts are produced in accordance with tolerances and specifications as called for on blueprint.
  • Reads and understands work instructions, GD&T and blueprints.
  • Assures compliance with job specifications by inspecting parts as produced using micrometers, verniers, gages and/or other measuring equipment.
  • Diagnoses and corrects machining programs. Reports any problems, difficulties immediately to lead/supervisor.
  • Maintains area, equipment and tools in neat, orderly condition. Performs basic machine maintenance such as removing chips, adding coolant, etc.
  • Maintains records or other data as required
  • Assists in training other operators.
  • Ability to operate support equipment as necessary for department.
  • Responsible for production quantity, quality and good machining practices.
  • Observes all company policies, rules and regulations including attendance, adhering to specified break schedule, good housekeeping, safety and security.
  • Ability to operate multiple machines simultaneously.
  • Performs other duties as required, assigned or directed.

Requirements
Job Specifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED and 2-4 years' experience.
  • Ability to use all required measurement and inspection equipment.
  • Ability to make major adjustments/offsets including positional moves.
  • Ability to change and re-sharpen tools as necessary.
  • Ability to assemble and disassemble production tooling and machinery.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Basic understanding of company-wide manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others and share necessary information.
